MEERMAGEN was constituted in the early 1980’s with the purpose of representing first class European companies acting in the steel industry.
After remarkable performance in the installation of the nuclear plants of Angra (I and II) together with the German Mannesmann, our company has been part of know-how transfer agreements with manufacturers of Brazilian equipment, including furnaces to petrochemical facilities.
Yet during the 1980’s, MEERMAGEN was a pioneer company, importing new materials such as copper-nickel alloys, Primarily, together with the Brazilian Navy (in corvettes) and afterwards with Petrobras developing at foru hands thir applications in offshore platforms.
In the early 1990’s, MEERMAGEN constituted a company in Houston (Texas) to perform the procurement services in the American market.
The mixture of European plant materials with the availability of just-in-time stocks in the United States caused the company to grow aggressively, presenting the original concept of outsourcing the procurement department.
This service modality has been very sought by first class clients from the industrial sector.
During ghe second half of the 1990’s, following a strategy of expertise and specific focus, we turned our activities to the growing investment in Petrobras’s offshore platforms.
The investment boom of converting tankers to FPSO (Floating, Production Storage & Floating) units caused us to work in the expansion of the applications of our products in this sector.
Our major successs has been the copper-nickel products line. By investing in researches, workshops and personnel training for welding, we have managed that this material supply to grow exponentially since the first projects until now.
Currently, super duplex steel appears emphatically as our second major product.
